The American Banjo Fraternity maintains a library of banjo sheet music (in standard notation) that contains thousands of titles. While we don’t have “all” the music that was published for 5 string banjo, we do have a good portion. The ABF Music Library was established by Cliff Spaulding (older brother of Shirley Spaulding) and has grown considerably since that time.
To ABF members we offer digital scans of public domain music (most of the classic banjo repotorie is in public domain).
Most recently, the ABF acquired the music collection of Mary Koons. This was carefully organized and indexed by Paul Heilman, please see below for a spreadsheet of the Koon’s collection.
Requests are filed by our Librarian Becky Schneider. Members should be as specific as possible when requesting a piece. Previous indexes of our library that might be found in the internet do not accurately reflect our holdings.
A large amount of banjo music is already available and we urge members to search these first. Two useful resources are found below.
